Tele2 and Zeam invite you to an exclusive demonstration where we will showcase how MF Estelle, the world’s first self-driving electric ferry, can be successfully operated from our Remote Operation Center (ROC) in Trondheim, Norway. This is made possible through Tele2’s advanced 5G network and IoT, which enables real-time control and monitoring of the ferry. MF Estelle offers both lower environmental impact and increased cost efficiency compared to traditional ferries.
Date: August 30
Time: 09:30
Location: Zeam, Norr Mälarstrand, at Orangeriet.
During the demonstration, you will have the opportunity to see MF Estelle cruise autonomously from Kungsholmen to Södermalm, while an operator 600 km away in Trondheim controls and monitors the ferry via Tele2’s 5G technology and IoT. This test is an important step toward our vision of manning ferries solely with operators from an ROC, where they can intervene if necessary.
To enable this, reliable connectivity of cameras and other technology via 5G is required both onboard and on land, allowing the operator to observe the surroundings in real-time. Tests, which have been reported to and processed by the Swedish Transport Agency, are currently ongoing this summer in a joint project with RISE and DNV.
Program for the day:
– Introduction: A presentation of MF Estelle and its innovative technology.
– Live Demonstration: Watch as our ferry is launched and remotely controlled from Trondheim.
– Q&A Session: Opportunity to ask questions to our experts and gain deeper insights into the technology behind MF Estelle.
This test represents a new era in sustainable transport and is a groundbreaking achievement within the maritime industry.
